BERNARD A. CORBETT, III, MD, CPI

Dr. Corbett is a family and emergency physician who has been invovled in clinical research for many years. He is board certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Corbett is a graduate of Southern Adventist University, Loma Linda University Medical School and completed his residency at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. Dr. Corbett has served as both Principal Investigator and Sub-Investigator for numerous trials that cover a broad range of indications including diabetes, hypertension, allergies, hypogonadism, arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, COPD, pneumonia, gout, etc.

 

 

JOHN B. EBERLY, MD

Dr. Eberly is a family physician who as been conducting clinical trials for approximately 12 years. He is board certified in Family Medicine and is certified by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review. Dr. Eberly is a graduate of Furman University, the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed his residency at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC. He is in solo practice at Taylors Family Medicine in Taylors. Dr. Eberly has served as the Prinicple Investigator for numerous trials that cover a broad range of indications including diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, erectile dysfunction, depression, migraines, hyperlipidemia , CHF, anti-infective therapy, and proteinuria.

 

 

JOSEPH A. FARMER, III, MD

Dr. Farmer is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and is employed by Internal Medicine Associates of Anderson. Dr. Farmer has served on numerous committees and boards. He is a member of the American Society of Internal Medicine, American College of Physicians and the SC Medical Association. His research experience includes cardiovascular disease, ACS, and atrial fibrillation.

 

 

MICHAEL R. KUNKEL, MD

Dr. Kunkle is graduate of the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and is employed by Internal Medicine Associates of Anderson. Dr. Kunkle has been published in professional journals and is active in the Anderson area medical community. He is a member of the American Medical Association and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. His research experience includes ACS and atrial fibrillation.

 

 

C. WILSON SOFLEY, JR., MD

Dr. Sofley is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and is employed by Internal Medicine Associates of Anderson. Dr. Sofley previously served as the Chief of Internal Medicine at Winn Army Community Hospital. He is currently a member of the Electronic Medical Records Steering Committee at Anderson Area Medical Hospital (AnMed) and has served on numerous committees and professional boards. His research experience includes hypertension, stress testing, lipids, type 2 diabetes, ACS, and atrial fibrillation.

 

 

WENDY A. ARNOLD, RN-C, MSN, FNP

Ms. Arnold is a family nurse practitioner with Taylors Family Medicine in Taylors. She has been involved in clinical trials for approximately 6 years. Ms. Arnold is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and earned her MSN at Clemson University.

 

 

SARAH BROWNE LONG, RN, MSN, FNP

Mrs. Long is a graduate of East Tennessee State University and Clemson University. She is a member of the American Nurses Association and the National Lipid Association. She is certified in exercise stress testing and ACLS. She is employed by Internal Medicine Associates of Anderson.

 

 

CLINICAL RESEARCH COORDINATORS

 

CINDY AGUDILO

Ms. Agudilo is a study coordinator at our office in Taylors where she works with Dr. Corbett. Ms. Agudilo assist with our Spanish-speaking studies. She is a graduate of ECPI University.

 

AMANDA MCKOY BOOTHE, RN

Mrs. Boothe is a study coordinator at our office in Anderson where she works with Dr. Sofley, Dr. Farmer, Dr. Kunkel and Sarah B. Long, APRN. A graduate of Tri-County Technical College Mrs. Boothe's primary background is working as an urgent care nurse with additional training and certification in cardiac/step-down nursing.

 

PATRICIA I. GOSS, RN, BSN

Ms. Goss is a graduate of Westmoreland Hospital School of Nursing, in Pennsylvania, and the University of South Carolina. She is certified in drug and alcohol counseling. Ms. Goss has experience in research, home health, public health, psychiatric and medical-surgical nursing.

 

 

KEVIN J. MIZELL, MSM

Mr. Mizell is a study coordinator at our Anderson office where he manages clinical trials for Dr. Sofley, Dr. Farmer, Dr. Kunkel and Sarah B. Long, APRN. A graduate of both Clemson University and Southern Wesleyan University, his research experience includes managing NIH and NIMH clinical trials at the university-hospital level as well as working with neurological, psychiatric, endocrine disorder, cardiovascular and infectious disease studies.

 

 

LIZ SVADBIK, RN, BSN

Ms. Svadbik is a study coordinator at our office in Taylors where she works with Dr. Corbett. Ms. Svadbik has numerous years of experience in the hospital setting, both in the ER, step-down, and neonatal care units.

 

DIETICIANS

 

ADELE LANFORD-FREEMAN, MA, RD

Mrs. Lanford-Freeman is a graduate of Limestone College, Winthrop University and Furman University. She is a registered dietitian and exercise physiologist. She has an MA in food and nutrition as well as health and exercise science. Mrs. Landford -Freeman is also a certified personal trainer.

 

DIANE SANDY, RD, LD

Mrs. Sandy is a graduate of the University of Illinois. She is a registered dietitian with more than 30 years of experience as a nutritional consultant within the hospital setting.

 

ADMINISTRATION

 

SHEILA L. MILES , RN - President

Ms. Miles is the founder of Southeastern Research Associates, Inc. She is a registered nurse with experience in research administration, home care administration, health care information technology, physician practice management, cardiovascular nursing and regulatory consulting. She has been involved with the legislative aspects of healthcare at the national, state and local levels and serves on various advisory boards. Ms. Miles has published articles on clinical practice, nursing management and integration of electronic systems within the practice environment. She has presented at the local, state and national levels on a variety of healthcare topics.

 

BREE STEFANACCI - Office Administrator

Ms. Stefanacci is the Office Administrator for Southeastern Research Associates, Inc. She has over 10 years of experience in medical office management and staff coordination. Additionally, she has experience with many proprietary office software and payroll systems.
